Oct 2008:

To be very honest, I'd never been to a concert before. There were a few concerts when I was in college - Euphoria, Jal, Kailash Kher etc but I've never taken them very seriously. So yesterday night, I've been officially to a concert and that was of 'Jagjit Singh'. It was a melodious evening where only emotions were in the air- each and every type of emotion.

I’d always wondered about the crew behind the jagjit singh's live performances and yesterday that crew was there with him on the stage and they were simply amazing yesterday night. They played, they enjoyed, they made us thrilled, they added sweetness to jagjit's voice, they went beyond the expectations. They made that show a musical extravaganza. Let me introduce them:

Abhinav Upadhyay: He was playing 'Tabla' and was leading the troupe from the front. I saw him smiling only and praising for others. It was very common to hear a 'Wah' from him for the troupe. Thanks for the autograph Sir, you gave that though you were so busy.

Heera Pandit: He was on 'Dholak' and awesome with that. He got surprised when I requested for the autograph. I was able to see the 'happiness' on his face. Thanks 'sir' for the autograph.

Mr. Peterson: He was on guitar. An old man with a young instrument and when he played with the six strings, ghazals altogether became a very different flavor. When we asked him for the autograph, he thanked us twice and then gave his precious autograph. Thanks Sir

Sanjay Das: He was also on guitar along with Mr. Peterson. A young guy who has electrified the audience with his skills. Each and every person was just clapping and shouting for him and after each and every harkat, even these guys were congratulating each other. When I said to him that 'Aaj aap logon ne bahut masti ki'. He was quick to say that ' haan humein bada maza aaya' and he was smiling and asking us what to write for the autograph. Thanks Sanjay.

Deepak Pandit: He had the masterpiece in his hand - the violin and he played that masterpiece magnificently. Best part of the show was the combination of three- Sanjay with guitar, Deepak with violin and Paras with Flute. Their combination, chemistry and synchronization made a musically(Classical) challenged person i.e. me to shout and say 'Wah' various times.

Paras Nath: A young legend in the making. I believe that he will be a classical star very soon. He was putting in his flute everything which can intoxicate a normal human being. Nobody remain untouched and I heard people discussing about him after the concert also..

I was not able to meet Paras and Deepak as I was taking autograph from Jagjit Sir and as there were a lot of people like me, it was taking time and when we came back, to our bad luck they were not there.

Jagjit sir was in a black kurta-pyjama and he was as always amazing, electrifying, serene, relaxed, humorous and AWSOME!! There were 12 ghazals (including 2 fresh ones) in the show but even those were not able to fulfill the quest of the audiences. Everyone was shouting for 'one more' but as the time was not enough, those wishes remained unfulfilled.

I'll go into detail about all of the ghazals which have been performed there by Jagjit singh. I want to dedicate this post to the crew who work for Jagjit Singh and add sweetness to his live performances. From now onwards, when you watch a live performance of Jagjit Singh, identify these faces which are still 'gumnaam' but they only know the way to make a 'Tajmahal'.
